The Manav Adhikar Surakshya Manch launched signature and postcard campaigns here on Sunday as parts of its demand for a CBI inquiry into various irregularities in the Brahmapur University and strong action against the guilty.

The signature drive, which began from the Komapalli Square, would cover various places across the State, said Manch general secretary Maguni Nahak.

“The postcard campaign was launched to ask people send letters to the Governor, the High Court Chief Justice and the UGC demanding a CBI inquiry,” he said.

The body alleged that the university is appointing faculties unlawfully without considering essential criteria like higher educational qualification and experience. Besides, it is also endorsing promotion of professors flouting the UGC rules and promoting forgery in University Research Entrance Test (URET) question papers. Hence, a CBI inquiry into these irregularities is needed, said Manch convenor Abani Kumar Gaya.
