The Biju Patnaik Multipurpose Cooperative Society here collected a huge sum of money from several gullible persons. However, it advanced loans to some persons who are close to influential BJD workers.
The office of the society was opened here by the local MlA. The opening ceremony was attended by hundreds of party workers. A BJD worker under condition of anonymity said that the society was fully meant for financing the party workers at the cost of the common men. It is seen that over the last six months, the office of the society in front of the Biju Patnaik Childrens’ garden has remained closed. It is neither returning the money collected from the common men nor collecting the loans advanced to the party workers. Now, the harassed depositors have demanded that like in the chit fund case, the CBI must probe the case.
