CBI Special Investigation team (SIT) Joint Director Navin Kumar Singh on Monday reviewed the progress of agency’s investigation into multi-thousand-crore chit fund scam in Odisha in Bhubaneswar.
Sources said Singh particularly reviewed the progress of the investigations into the scams committed by Seashore Group and Rose Valley chit fund firms.
The review of Singh assumed significance as the Central investigating agency is raiding ruling BJD leaders’ houses for their alleged complicity with the Seashore.
Speculation is rife now that the CBI may arrest some BJD leaders as they were unable to produce documents to back their clarifications to the investigating officer.
last week, CBI raided the houses of Baleswar BJD MP Rabindra Jena, Choudwar-Cuttack BJD MlA Pravat Biswal and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s close aide Saroj Sahoo for their alleged involvement with the Prashant Dash-owned Seashore ponzi firm.
