'CBI hesitant to probe Sethy-Dasburma link'

Published on:

Senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik on Thursday alleged that the CBI does not probe the link between Artha Tatwa chief Pradeep Sethy and Minister Sanjaya Dasburma properly as the BJP Central leadership wants to protect Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik from the chit fund scam.

The name of Dasburma figured in CBI interrogation of Sethy one and a half years back but could not be divulged. What is now known is that the interrogation was completed in a single sentence.

“The IO is duty bound to ask the next set of logical questions as to who is the person, what is his address, why and when was the car gifted. IO cannot stop after coming to hear of such information,” pointed out Patnaik in a statement.

What the accused says now is not important, the question is while he was in CBI custody why wasn’t he asked to give the details, Patnaik wanted to know.

He said there is no dispute to the fact that the Minister has taken a loan from the Vijaya Bank and the repayment has been done from his account in the Uco Bank. But the question arises is what was the source of the money deposited in UCO BankIJ Further, did he inform the Speaker about availing loan and buying of a vehicleIJ And how did he and his family amass so much of wealth in so less a timeIJ

The loan was taken by Sanjay Dasburma and the repayment was done by Sethy. The CBI knows it all but has been asked not to probe further.

Thanking his party colleague lulu Mohapatra for exposing such a ‘new-age corruption’ modus operandi, Patnaik alleged the CBI would do nothing because of the protection that Naveen Patnaik enjoys from Amit Shah and others, maybe even Narendra Modi.
