After a lull of nearly two months, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) stepped up its investigation into the chit fund scam.

On Friday, CBI sleuths interrogated two BJD functionaries, including a close aide Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, for their alleged complicity in the chit fund scam.

Dillip Mishra, who looks after the Minister’s political engagements in his constituency, and Prafulla Singh, former Cuttack district BJD executive president, were grilled by CBI sleuths for about five hours at the CBI office here.

Both were questioned for their alleged role in the Seashore chit fund scam, said sources.

“I answered whatever questions the officials asked me. I have neither mediated for anybody nor do I know the Seashore chit fund company,” said Singh after emerging out of the CBI office.

On the other hand, Dilip Mishra alleged that suspended BJD Banki MlA Pravat Tripathy, who was arrested for his links in the chit fund scam, reported his name to the CBI.

“Since Pravat Tripathy had brought allegations against me before the investigating officials, they (CBI) summoned me. However, I said the agency that I don’t even know the owner of Seashore,” said Mishra.
