Veteran politician Arun Dey reacting over the CBI-West Bengal police face-off alleged that the premier investigating agency has become a tool of the Centre to settle political scores. The agency whose credibility is questioned in the recent years is losing its dignity very fast.
“The Central agency which was formed in the forties was recognised for its high integrity and neutrality. The credibility is waning fast over past years particularly after BJP in the helm. The independent agency is losing its credibility in the eyes of common man. The things which are occurring were never seen before. Even within its own organisation there is a serious crisis,” said Dey.
The top brasses accuse one another even to the extent of arresting one another. It is purely a political vendetta that occurred in West Bengal on Sunday evening. Since last four years, the CBI has been probing the case of ponzi scam of Sharada and Rose Valley, then what compelled the agency to go to the Police Commissioner’s house when the general elections are nearby. The BJP-led Government is selectively targeting certain States through the CBI where their number is very negligible, Dey told.
In UP they did so against Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. Earlier, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was targeted. Even in Odisha, they targeted some leaders of BJD just before the poll dates only to defame the party and reap the mileage, the former lawmaker told.
Hailing the action of the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banarjee’s stand, Dey, a five-time MLA, said, “She is a very courageous leader. Whatever she did was the need of hour to save democracy. I appreciate her stand.”
