The CBI has arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) of the Military Engineer Services (MES) here for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a contractor.
The accused Rajiv Ranjan had reportedly demanded the bribe from Pabitra Mohan Parida, a private contractor with MES in Paradip, for forwarding resumes of six employees of his firm to the office of GE(I), MES, Bhubaneswar for formal approval relating to the work order.
Parida lodged a complaint with anti-graft agency authorities, following which a trap was laid by CBI sleuths and the JE was caught red-handed at his office while accepting bribe fromcomplainant.
