The CBI on Tuesday arrested three senior GST officials on the charges of accepting bribe of Rs 10 lakh in connection with a case of GST and Central Excise against a private engineering college here.
The CBI’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Bhubaneswar branch arrested three Superintendents of GST and Central Excise, Bhubaneswar Circle, namely Artabhanjan Kar, Pradip Kumar Acharya and NN Sahoo while accepting the bribe from Centurion Institute of Technology’s accounts officer Ashutosh Padhy. Padhy was also arrested for giving bribe.
The GST and Central Excise officials had visited the Hotel New Marrion to receive the bribe. Later, searches were carried out at residences and office premises of the three officials and Padhy.
