The Crime Branch (CB) would probe into the alleged rape and abortion of a minor girl by a policeman in Sundargath district, according to an order by DGP Abhay on Tuesday.
Following the order, a Crime Branch team already left for Sundargarh.
Notably, Birmitrapur police station IIC Ananda Majhi was recently placed under suspension for his alleged involvement in the rape and abortion.
Sundargarh District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) S Jena has lodged a complaint with the Raiboga police against six persons for raping the girl and later aborting her foetus. It was stated in the complaint that the IIC, another cop of Birmitrapur police station, the girl’s stepfather and two others had raped the victim over a period of four months.
A doctor of the Birmitrapur Community Health Centre allegedly had involvement in abortion of the girl on June 15.
