Crime Branch (CB) Additional Director General (ADG) of Police Bijay Kumar Sharma on Tuesday said his department has already started the process to seek remand of Saradha chit fund kingpin Sudipta Sen and his close aide Debjani Mukherjee for interrogation in order to unravel the alleged fraudulent transactions by the company in Odisha.

"Meanwhile, we have submitted the production warrant required for remand issued by a Baleswar court before the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Salt lake in Kolkata and have also submitted an application to the Dum Dum jail authorities where Sen has been lodged in this regard," said Sharma.

"We hope to get remand of Sen and Saradha group executive director Debjani in June once the Kolkata police complete their interrogation," said a senior CB official.

On May 20, the Saradha group CMD was taken to the Dum Dum jail after 24 days in police custody. Earlier on May 4, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Odisha CB had sealed the office of the Saradha Group at Baleswar after seizing some documents. Meanwhile, the EOW is continuing to record statements of the people who claimed to have invested in the Saradha Group.
