The Crime Branch (CB) in a bid to destroy the network of notorious gangster Sayed Usman Ali alias Tito conducted a raid on his residence ‘Kobra Manzil’ at Dilawarpur under the Kendrapada Town police station on Friday.
Keeping in view a joint raid by the district police and the Crime Branch, five platoons of police force were deployed to maintain law and order. Though no one was arrested during the raid, several incriminating documents relating to Tito’s crime network and several bank passbooks were seized by the CB.
Another office of Tito, from where he carried out various businesses like railway contracts were also raided and a computer was seized. Special Task Force (STF) DIG Himanshu lal supervised the raids.
Earlier, Tito who is involved in several sensational crimes has been arrested following an encounter by the STF near Chandikhol in Jajpur district on June 30.
At present, Tito is on a six-day CB remand; and the Friday’s raid was believed to be conducted after the investigating agency got some vital clues during the interrogation of the gangster on the third day on Friday.
Sources said the CB is keen to conduct a detailed probe into Tito’s underworld network, his involvement in various crimes and tender-fixing and other business operations including acquiring railway contracts in the name of his associates and relatives.
It might be mentioned that after the slaying of Suleman and Tito’s another rival Hyder cooling his heels behind bars in a murder case, Tito was unchallenged in the district and enjoyed huge clout. He used this to his advantage and managed to grab or fix major contracts..
