The Crime Branch on Wednesday submitted chargesheet against soothsayer Surendranath Mishra alias Sura Baba at the Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court in connection with the land grab case against him.
Sources said the Crime Branch has mentioned in its chargesheet that Mishra has grabbed one acre of land at Chhatrapur belonging to one Mochiram Sahu.
Sahu had filed a complaint in this regard with the Chhatrapur police last year following which the Crime Branch had started investigation into the matter. Mishra was produced before the SDJM court last September.
After the arrest of the Baba and his sons, a resident of Brahmapur in Ganjam district, Mochiram Sahu, had filed a complaint with the Chhatrapur police station alleging that the father-son duo had taken over around one acre of his land at Chatrapur.
Mochiram had claimed that he had handed over his patch of land to Sura Baba and his sons in 2013 to get his mentally-retarded son cured. Sura Baba had allegedly encroached 894 decimal lands along National Highway belonging to Mochiram.
The victim had stated in the FIR that the sale deed prepared by Sura Baba was faked.
Meanwhile, Sura Baba’s counsel Suresh Senapaty said the allegation leveled against his client was fake and fabricated.
