Even as it was crystal clear that some Ollywood artists and certain BJD politicians were openly patronising tainted ponzi firm Oscar International head Prabhas Rout to loot people, the preliminary chargesheet of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch police against the money collection company is suspiciously silent on this aspect, raising many eyebrows.
Actors and politicians in the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have acted in the movies produced by Rout. They include party MPs Anubhav Mohanty and Siddhant Mohapatra and comedian and suspended BJD leader Papu Pompom alias Tatwa Prakash Satapathy.
Sources revealed that the EOW has filed a 200-page preliminary chargesheet in the multi-crore chit fund scam involving the Oscar Group in a designated court which has not mentioned the links between the actors and politicians and the Ollywood.
The chargesheet named Oscar Group chairman Prabhas Chandra Rout, general manager Muna Patra and five others for their alleged complicity in the chit fund scam.
Meanwhile, the EOW has also written to the Finance Department for interim confiscation of assets worth `40 crore of the tainted money collection firm, the sources added. However, sources in the EOW said the supplementary chargesheet would mention about the link of the Odia cine industry with the ponzi firm. The builders’ link with the Oscar may also feature in the next chargesheet.
A special team of the Crime Branch had arrested Prabhas Rout from Delhi in June. The company is accused of defrauding people to the tune of `230 crore.
