The programme was attended by the contractors and the supervisors working in PPl along with trade union representatives, senior executives and employees of the PPl.

Vice President (Mfg), PPl Nitin M Kantak, welcomed the delegates and participants. He emphasized PPl’s commitment to ‘No to Child labour’ and adherence to it in true spirit.

All the speakers and union representatives deliberated on the potential issues of child labour inside the PPl campus. The legal implications of use of child labour in hazardous activities and identifying child labourers, reporting to the appropriate authorities, were highlighted by the guests.

The union representatives highlighted the reasons behind children dropping out from schools and becoming child labourers. Poverty, family condition, disasters and diseases were discussed as reasons compelling children to become child labourers. Rehabilitation, education, wage opportunities and stringent laws to clamp on middlemen and employers could potentially reduce the evil from the society, opined the speakers. DGM (HR, IR) Sangram Swain gave vote of thanks.
