Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has directed the district administrations at the Additional District Magistrates’s (ADMs) conference at the State Secretariat here to complete the task of issuing lifetime caste certificates to school students across the State within six months.

Speaking to mediapersons, Padhi said, “The meeting was for discussion on the issuance of caste certificates to the school students. The modalities relating to it were discussed.”

The Government has decided that the school students belonging to the ST (Scheduled Tribe), SC (Scheduled Caste) and SEBC (Socially and Economically Backward Caste) would be issued caste certificates on a campaign mode, he added.

The Chief Secretary also said the ADMs have been directed to complete the task of issuing caste certificates to as many as 19 lakh students in the State within six months.

“The Government is going to amend the rule so that once a caste certificate is issued, it will be valid for life,” he said.
