Nationalised UCO Bank is in trouble for sponsoring the media event of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Urban Development here on Wednesday.
Chairman of the Standing Committee and Puri BJD MP Pinaki Misra revealed the ‘evil” practice of the UCO Bank of giving cash to scribes who cover their events. Misra said this to media when he was accused of attempting to insult the scribes by giving Rs200 each in the media kit.
Pleading ignorance in the matter, Mishra said it was the practice of the UCO Bank to give cash to scribes for their transportation cost. The unpleasant situation prevailed at a hotel where the mediapersons invited to cover a joint Press meet of Misra and local BJD MlA Maheswar Mohanty found cash inside their folders distributed among them.
