Out of the Rs 11 lakh snatched away near Sambalpur Swimming Pool, the police recovered Rs 9 lakh from Aeorogola Sahi, Pakalpali under Aska police station of Ganjam district. The police also arrested one M Lily, wife of M Raju, of the same village. Lily is the mother of the prime accused who snatched away the cash.
On October 11, after getting information from Md Jisan of Sunapali about snatching of Rs 11 lakh, the police swung into action. Under the direct supervision of SP B Gangadhar, a team made efforts to detect things locally.
But a second team on the feedback from CC Tv footage proceeded to Aska in Ganjam district and after a series of raids at different locations, arrested M Lily and recovered Rs 9 lakh from her possession.
"We are in efforts to recover the rest Rs 2 lakh and arrest the two youths practically involved in the crime," said SP B Gangadhar in a media conference here today. These youths are involved in inter district snatching cases. Many cases involving lakhs of rupees are pending against them in different police stations including Bargarh and Balangir, the SP informed.
