Seeking to arraign the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as additional opposite parties in his original PIl on the Mahanadi issue, petitioner Barada Prasanna Patnaik filed a miscellaneous case in the Orissa High Court on Friday.
The petitioner’s lawyer Ashok Mohapatra said relevant documents in this regard would be filed in the court soon urging for issuance of notices to these additional opposite parties.
Adjudicating the PIl, the High Court had earlier this month issued notices to the Odisha Government and the Centre asking them to file their responses within ten days.
The petitioner in his capacity as the Mahanadi Bachao Manch convener had approached the court challenging the inaction of the Odisha Government in restricting the Chhattisgarh Government from constructing structures on the Mahanadi.
