The Marshaghai police on Friday night registered a case on the alleged gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl on Sunday last week at Danramunda village under the Marshaghai police station following the victim girl’s brother lodged an FIR on Friday night. The police have started an inquiry into the alleged matter, stated Kendrapada SP Rabinarayan Behera.
According to the FIR lodged by the victim minor girl’s brother, the 16-year-old was gang-raped by three persons, including a couple of juveniles. The incident had occurred on December 9. While the minor girl was on last Sunday returning to her house after taking bath at a nearby river, she was forcibly taken into a lonely place by three fellow village youths, including two juveniles and later, they allegedly raped her one after another. Even, the accused trio allegedly took her obscene photo in their mobile phones by threatening her not to disclose the matter before anybody. As a result, remaining silent for more than four days, she on Thursday disclosed the matter before her family members as she failed to bear the pain. Soon, the family members, by informing the incident orally to the Marshaghai police, admitted the critically sick victim at the District Headquarters Hospital. She was later rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital as her health condition deteriorated, informed SP Behera.
Police have registered a case under Section 376(d), 354 (c), 323, 506 and Section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012.Meanwhile, a haunt is on to nab the accuse, he informed.
“I have directed the IIC of Marshaghai police station to rush to the SCB to record the statement of the victim minor girl on Saturday,” added SP Behera.
When contacted, Marsaghai IIC Sukanta Kumar Patra informed that he had visited to the SCB to record the statement of the victim, but as she was in the labour room, the hospital authorities denied the police to enter into the labour room. It may be noted here that the victim girl on Friday had disclosed that she was raped by a fellow village youth Mantu Mallick.
According to reliable sources, the victim minor girl had a love relationship with a youth and had also shared physical relationship with him. When the matter came to the notice of the girl’s parents, the family members made an attempt to kill her by assaulting her. The police have also started an inquiry on the alleged matter, informed the SP.
