The Soochana Adhikar Abhijan, a campaign for Right to Information, has filed a complaint before the State Information Commission against ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for not receiving an RTI application.
According to RTI activist Tapan Padhi, he had sent an RTI application by speed post (letter no. E0542872197IN at counter no.1, OP-Code BND, Sailashree Vihar Post office, Bhubaneswar-21) to the PIO, office of BJD, Unit-6, Bhubaneswar seeking some information about “dreams” of former Chief Minister late Biju Patnaik, to which BJD leaders always refer in their public speeches.
However, after a few days the letter returned with a mark on the backside of the letter pack as “No such addressee, BJD returned to sender”. But the letter was opened from the side and reposted with gum by somebody of the BJD office with help of postman on April 23, 2013, alleged Padhi, adding that this is violation of Section 5 of the RTI Act as there is no such appointment of PIO in the office of BJD.
He too appealed to the State Chief Information Commissioner to hear the case immediately and direct the BJD president (Naveen Patnaik) to designate a PIO and First Appellate Authority and supply the complete information.
