Capital Hospital with 24-hr specialty services envisaged

Published on:

Develop the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar into a good premier Government hospital with 24 hours specialty services, Chief Secretary BK Patnaik has directed the concerned authorities.

He was reviewing the integrated development of the hospital on Tuesday. Health Secretary PK Mohapatra outlined the issues for the discussion.

Patnaik also wanted preparation of a detailed design and project plan for construction of a Post Graduate Institute (PGI) in the hospital with assistance from hospital architects so that patients get seamless paramedical and other pathological services within the shortest possible time. Meanwhile, the Government has accorded in-principle approval for developing the Capital Hospital into a PGI along the lines of the PGI Chandigarh and SGPGI lucknow.

Keeping in view the increasing rate of service demanded from the Capital Hospital, it has been projected that by 2020 the daily indoor admission will rise to 240 and more than 900 beds will be required to provide services to indoor patients.

The issues relating to additional manpower requirement for PGI, training centre for students of AIIMS and removal of encroachment from the land allotted to hospital were also reviewed.
