The State Government has decided to upgrade the Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar to a postgraduate institute in line with PGI Chandigarh.
Health and Family welfare Minister Damodar Rout told the State Assembly on Friday that a report on the project with an estimated Rs 82 crore has been prepared to convert the hospital into a most modern medical college and hospital. The project has been referred to the Finance Department for approval, he said, adding a high-level expenditure committee would be formed for the purpose.
He said the existing infrastructure of the Capital Hospital would be used for the proposed medical college and hospital. Postgraduate courses have been planned in some disciplines. The process for recruitment of professors and other teaching staff and doctors would be taken up after an in-principle clearance by the Finance Department.
