To create awareness and detect cancer in patients at an early stage, the State Government has decided to open a cancer wing in the Capital Hospital here soon, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Friday. Replying to a question put by member Priyadarshi Mishra and other members, the Minister said the wing would function under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer Diabetes, Cardio Vascular Diseases and Stroke (NPCDCS). For functioning of this wing, concerned doctors and pathology technicians would be given special training at the Acharya Harihar Research Centre for Cancer at Cuttack. Similarly, a doctor will be appointed as nodal officer of this wing, the Ministser said.
