A free cancer checkup and treatment camp was organised at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on Saturday.
Noted Doctor Dinesh Pendharkar from Mumbai, Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC) Cuttack Director Dr l Sarangi and NCD, Odisha Joint Director Dr PKB Patnaik rendered their services.
Under the guidance of the doctors, chemotherapy was administered at the DHH by trained doctor Debabrata Dakua, A total no of 79 patients attended the camp. Doctors referred some of the patients to ARCC Cuttack for oncosurgery and radiotherapy.
Among others, district Collector Rashmita Panda, CDMO Anup Kumar
Ghose, Joint CDMO Niranjan Nayak and ADMO Dr Sovarani Mishra were present. The Collector assured to provide monetary help to the patients referred to the ARCC for treatment.
It was for the first time that such a mega camp was held at the DHH. Such a camp helps early detection of cancer cases and help patients get cured fully.
