With an aim to empower women and check violence against them, the India Media Centre (IMC) will launch a State-wide awakening movement named as ‘Campaign Jyoti’ from the Jayadev Bhawan here from Thursday ahead of the International Women’s Day on Friday.
“The campaign is aimed at empowering women through a massive awareness and signature campaign,” said IMC coordinator Tapan Kumar Dash, adding that a drive is needed to reignite India’s core values and traditions that respect and nurture women and children.
An oath-taking programme for never to commit, never to involve, never to excuse and never to remain silent about violence against women, female feoticide, gender inequality, domestic violence and harassment at workplace would also be organised, said Dash.
