Following a directive by the Supreme Court and the Orissa High Court, CCTV cameras have been installed at the court in Bhubaneswar.
Around 90 CCTV cameras have been installed in and outside the court. While 34 cameras have been installed at entrance point and corridor, the 23 court halls have 46 cameras.
A control room has been opened at the District and Sessions Court for managing the cameras.
With the installation of the cameras, vigil can be kept on the accused and gangsters, who are brought to the court. It would also help in conducting probe into any incident that occurs at the court premises.
Installation of cameras was a longtime demand by the Bhubaneswar Bar Association.
