The State Government on Saturday decided to give relief for three days in all the rain and flood-affected districts as per the provisions of the Relief Code and to double the pension amount for one month for those under the social security net.

Announcing the additional package, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said pension holders in all the affected districts would be given one month’s additional pension of Rs 300 during distribution of pension in November.

Over five lakh people of 45 blocks and seven urban local bodies are badly affected in the floods caused by a low pressure-induced heavy rain in seven districts, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Nayagarha and Puri.
