The State Cabinet’s approval for implementation of policies in nine different sectors is nothing but an attempt to hoodwink youth masses ahead of the panchayat elections, alleged BJP State president Basanta Panda on Wednesday.
“During last 16 years of rule, the State Government failed to bring development in the nine sectors. But in the name of Make in Odisha Conclave, it has now decided to implement new policies. The Chief Minister should explain why his Government failed to bring development first,” demanded Panda.
He called upon youths to judge the CM’s performance during the last 16 years and to go by Make in Odisha Conclave promises.
“Handloom production in Odisha has come down to 0.057 per cent and seven spinning mills have been closed. The Government should explain as to why it failed to bring development in the sector during the last 16 years,” said Panda. He further slammed the Government for establishing only 21 medium industries during the period. Even three of are closed now, he said.
“A total of 27,140 applications had been received by the State Government for establishment of MSME units during 2015-16 finance year. However, only 2,240 persons have started work.
Similarly, the Government has so far been able to produce 15 MW power from renewable sources while state has a broader protentiality in the sector,” he said.
