The buyers of a real estate company, the Ganapati Eastcon Private limited, lodged cases at the Saheed Nagar police station here on Friday against the managing director and employees of the company for cheating them of lakhs of rupees.

Prakash Chandra Mishra of the city, a buyer of the company, in his complaint at the police station, said the company cheated him in land purchase and did not return his money after failing to hand over the land.  He said a few staff of the real estate firm including KC Mallick, BK Jena and others came to his residence three times and requested him to purchase plot number- 228/3852 and plot number- 228 under Mancheswar Mouza in the city.

They took Mishra to the spot to demarcate the area and proposed to build a boundary wall soon after the registration of the land which was to be executed on April 17, 2013. The firm gave letters of general power of attorney for the two plots empowering company’s managing director Chinmaya Kumar Das to sell both the plots. Mishra agreed to the firm’s proposal and made full payment of the land cost on April 15 by cheques amounting to Rs 15. 88 lakh.

The land was to be registered in favour of Mishra’s wife Sarojini on April 17, but it was not registered on the day.

“The real estate firm fooled me by making false promises of handing over of the plot in my wife’s name. I tried a lot but could not get a positive response,” said Mishra, and added that the company returned Rs 6 lakh recently after the matter was reported in the media.

He along with other buyers had lodged a case at the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch on May 23 against company managing director Das for cheating them of lakhs of rupees.

On Friday, Mishra along with another buyer Santosh Kumar Panigrahy lodged the cases against Das and company employees including KC Mallick, Tapan Samal, Nishikant Sahu Rekha Mishra and BK Jena for duping them.
