Busy B'pur Army canteen causes traffic woes

Published on:

The parking of a large number of vehicles of the customers of Army canteen located in the busiest barracks road in Old Bus stand area of the city has been creating a serious traffic problem between Gandhi Nagar square and Old bus stand. This is causing serious inconvenience not only to the local public, but also to the daily commuters.

Notably, customers who come to the busy Army store every day are mostly ex-Army personnel who park their vehicles in the 30 feet wide public road causing traffic jam.  They stand up in large queues stretching up to the public road of barracks street to get their desired goods from the military canteen causing inconvenience to the local public and school going children. Repeated complaints of local public submitted to the authorities have gone unheeded so far.  The local residents, therefore, have demanded that the administration direct them to park their vehicles inside the premises of the AD Center and not on the public road.

Besides, the center should keep its main entry gate open from the south side of their premises which is a non-residential area, they demanded. This will help to decongest Barracks Road and provide relief to the locals, they added.  According to the residents of the New Barracks Street, the local authorities are reportedly misleading by sending site photographs on the off-days of the AD center. The locals demanded that the Brahmapur Traffic Police immediately conduct a study on the existing traffic-flow pattern and chaotic parking practice and take necessary action.
