City-based businessman Kamal Passari was arrested by the Central GST Commissionerate on Tuesday allegedly for his involvement in raising fake invoice and evading taxes worth Rs 18.84 crore. The businessman was reportedly engaged in transferring the invoices without any goods and was passing on the input tax credits to other parties.
Joint Commissioner of Central CST Deba Jyoti Chakraborty said, “Passari, owner of Aar Pee Steels, was arrested under Section 132 of OCGST Act 2017 for evading tax through fake invoice, Further investigations are on as several other parties are also involved in the practice.”
