The State Government seems to have taken all possible measures to promote Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018 and popularise Odisha tourism in and outside the country.
The State has taken over some buses for advertisement with a message, “Odisha by Morning, Hockey by Evening”, to run in Sydney in Australia and Munich in Germany from September 24 and October 1, respectively, and begun a 360-degree promotional road campaign in the country.
The buses in international cities will be instrumental in pulling a high concentration of fans, tourists and decision-makers towards the State to enjoy the match and the beauty of the city.
The Government expects that Hockey lovers of Sydney and Munich can also come with their family and friends to explore the city during the day and cheer for their favourite teams during the night.
“Bus advertising campaign give valuable exposure to audiences during the peak morning and evening journeys and people can see the message frequently. By promoting this campaign, Odisha will be popularises as an exciting sports and tourist destination in the world,” Secretary Sports and Youth Services and Tourism secretary Vishal Dev.
Similar activity was conducted in London during the Hockey Women’s World Cup and it received a very positive response from the people, said Sports and Youth Services Director R Vineel Krishna.
The proposed 360-degree promotional road campaign, which is expected to start from here on September 27, would have 17 stops in all corners of the country, including six metropolitan cities of New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
This campaign, a first-of-its-kind move, will showcase Odisha as a sporting hub as well as a tourist destination among local and foreign tourists. “Through this road-show, we look forward to extending the sports brand and welcoming the teams, fans and tourists in Odisha. We want to give people a taste of Odisha’s authenticity when they come down for the mega sporting event in November, said Dev.
Notably, the State Odisha Government had participated in a two-day PATA Travel Mart in Lankavi Malaysia from September 12 to 14, 2018 to promote Hockey Men’s World Cup and State’s tourism. The event was promoting travel and tourism to and from and within the Asia Pacific region.
