The strike by private bus employees for three days was withdrawn on Saturday and normalcy returned to bus operation on roads in Jagatsinghpur district. In view of serious inconveniences to passengers, police invited agitated bus staff and owners for discussion on Friday night.
The police assured the irate bus staff that lawful action would be taken against the two bus owners from Cuttack who had assaulted a Jagatsinghpur-bound bus conductor. The bus staff declared an end to their strike but with a condition that the two bus operators’ vehicles would not be allowed entry to the Jagatsinghpur bus-stand.
