Bus services continued to be hit in Ganjam district for a consecutive fourth day on Tuesday as the Private Bus Owners’ Association, Ganjam kept their vehicles off the road in protest against operation of the Haladiapadar bus terminal.
While the district administration has announced operation of the Haladiapadar bus terminal asking all buses to run to it, the association said the bus terminal lacks infrastructure to accommodate buses going to and coming from various places. Due to the protest, as many as 700 buses have remained of the road and people across the district have faced difficulties.
Though representatives of the association had held discussions on their demands with the district Collector and the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), yet no solution was found. Meanwhile, Odisha Private Bus Owners’ Association Prakash Mishra has extended its support to the Ganjam association.
Stating that the demands of Ganjam bus owners are justifiable, Mishra requested the district administration to fulfil the demands in the interest of passengers at the earliest.
Passengers are now travelling to different places by OSRTC and city buses. They have demanded that Government resolve the problem at the earliest.
