Bus services disrupted; passengers suffer

Published on:

Bus services between Puri and Bhubaneswar were disrupted on Tuesday following a dispute between the bus owners’ associations of the two cities.

The Bhubaneswar Bus Owners’ Association has decided to detain the buses of Puri at Baramunda after the dispute between the two bodies over fixation of timings of buses plying between the two places.

Passengers travelling to Puri from Bhubaneswar suffered severe inconvenience on the day as heavy rush was witnessed in the Bhubaneswar-Puri DTS buses that were plying.

Taking advantage of the situation, auto-rickshaw drivers also charged exorbitant fares from the passengers travelling to Puri by the three-wheelers.

The dispute, which has been lingering for the last few days, could not be resolved even after a meeting of the members of the two associations in the presence of police.

As many as 18 buses of Bhubaneswar were detained at Puri by the Puri Bus Owners’ Association during the last three days, reports said.
