The Government on Thursday clarified the Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) would issue special permit to public service vehicles, including stage and contract carriages, for inter-State operations.
The State Transport Authority (STA) Chairman stated that applications for special permits for inter-State operation would be filed at the RTO counters. The decision has been taken considering the volume of rush of stakeholders at the STA office to get the special permit in view of the Covid-19 situation.
The RTOs have been delegated the power to issue the special permit on the same day as far as possible. The RTO counters would continue to issue the special permit till it is available in the VAHAN application.
Earlier, the STA instructed to issue special permit up to 150 days during the year 2020 till December 31.
