Public transport in several parts of the district was severely affected as private bus owners resorted to a 24-hour strike on Thursday protesting plying of several small vehicles without permitS.
Due to the protest, plying of all buses that run in various routes in the district on daily basis was stopped. The passengers were stranded in huge numbers ad had great difficulty I reaching their destinations.
The agitators alleged that vehicles like Tata Ace and Tata Magic are plying in several blocks and villages in the district without havig valid permits hampering the business of local bus owners.
“We have appraised the district administration as well as the Regional Transport officials about the issues repeatedly, but in vain. If the administration does not
take any steps we would intensify our stir,” said an association member.
