A bus owner was grievously injured after four miscreants opened fire at him over a suspected tender-related dispute here late on Sunday night.
The bus owner, identified as Pritam Jenamani, is the leaseholder of the Khandagiri Bari tourist bus-stand and a resident of Patrapada in the city.
Pritam sustained bullet injuries on his right shoulder and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital here.
Sources said that when Pritam was returning home in a car, four miscreants in another four-wheeler overtook and intercepted his vehicle.
Following this, an altercation ensued between Pritam and the miscreants. Later, they fired four rounds, injuring him critically.
Though the exact reason behind the murderous attack is yet to be established, it is being suspected that Pritam was assaulted over the tender for parking of vehicles at the Khandagiri Bari tourist bus-stand.
Police have started investigation into the matter.
