A 60-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh died and 22 other pilgrims were injured in a road accident when a bus carrying them from Andhra Pradesh turned turtle at Mulapada Chhak on NH-5 under the Kuakhia police station in Jajpur district on Tuesday morning.
The bus was carrying around 48 pilgrims from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh to Varanasi. As many as 22 victims who were critically injured in the accident were rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack after undergoing primary treatment at the Government hospital at Kuakhia.
Out of the seriously hurt persons, Tola Samma succumbed to her injuries at the SCB hospital. The death toll might rise as some of the injured persons are said to be in critical condition, according to IIC of Kuakhia police station NK Dhir.
