Unidentified miscreants hacked to death a person at Acharya Vihar under the Bada Bazar police station in Brahmapur on Saturday night.
The deceased, identified as Sanatan Choudhury (47), was working as a bus hawker.
The incident occurred when Sanatan was returning home by his motorcycle.
As per reports, four to five miscreants intercepted Sanatan and allegedly attacked him with swords and other sharp weapons. Sanatan died on the spot after sustaining multiple injuries in the attack.
Following the incident, Town Police Station SDPO and IIC of Bada Bazar Police Station rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry.
Though the exact reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that Sanatan was murdered over some past rivalry.
