The bus fares across the State were on Thursday reduced by one to two paise per kilometre under the automatic fare revision mechanism after reduction of fuel price recently. The fares for ordinary and express buses was cut by one paisa per km and that of deluxe and A/C deluxe buses by two paise. According to Transport Department notification, fares for ordinary buses were slashed from existing 56paise to 55 paise and for express buses from 59 pasie to 58 paise per km. Under the revised rate, passengers travelling in deluxe buses would pay 74 pasie against the earlier 76 pasie. Similarly for A/C deluxe buses passenger would now pay 95 paise instead of 97 pasie. The Government had implemented the automatic fare revision mechanism on June 4 last year under which the fare of passenger buses would be decided automatically as soon as the price of fuel rises or falls.
With the fresh revision, the bus fares were reduced for the fifth time. The Government had last reduced the bus fares in August last year.
