The State Government on Monday reduced bus fares by two paise per km in the wake of public demand following further decrease in the fuel prices. Announcing the decision to the media, Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi said the fare for ordinary buses would now be 60 paise per km while it would be 63 paise for express buses.
The fare for deluxe and AC deluxe buses would now be 83 paise and Rs 1.02 paise per km, respectively, the Minister said. The Technical Advisory Committee of the Transport Department had a discussion in this regard at an emergency meeting here on Friday last. The Government had earlier reduced the bus fares by two paise in two phases following a fall in the diesel prices by Rs 9.17 in phases in the last two months.
