Bus fares hiked; SP demands rollback

Published on:

The State Government on Wednesday hiked the bus fares under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism. While the fares of ordinary and express category buses were hiked by one paisa per km, deluxe and AC deluxe category buses fares were hiked by two paise.

With implementation of the increased fare, the fare for ordinary buses rose to 65 paise per km as against 64 paise per km and the fare for express buses increased to 68 paise from 67 paise.

Similarly, deluxe category buses will now charge 91 paise per km which was 89 paisa earlier.

AC Deluxe buses will charge Rs 1.13 paise instead of the existing Rs 1.11 paise per km.

Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera dubbed the bus fare hike as “a New Year’s gift” of the Government to the people.

As there is no hike in fuel prices, this bus fare hike is complete irrational and unjustified.  Behera demanded an immediate rollback of the fare hike.
