The State Government on Saturday increased fares for all categories of passenger buses by one to two paise as per the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
The Government increased the fares two days after a hike in the price of diesel.
While the fares for ordinary and express buses have been hiked by one paisa per km, fares for deluxe and AC deluxe category buses have been hiked by two paise per km.
The fare for ordinary buses would now be 59 paise per km as against 58 paise while the charge for express buses would be 62 paise from 61 paise per km.
Similarly, deluxe category buses would now charge 82 paise per km as against 80 paise earlier while commuters travelling in AC deluxe buses would have to give `1.03 instead of the current `1.01 paise per km, a notification of the Commerce and Transport Department said.
With Saturday’s hike in bus fares, the State Government has increased the bus fares for the fourth time. The Government has hiked the fares on January 21, March 10, May 3 and June 2 this year.
