Burla, B'pur medical students to move SC

Published on:

The MBBS students of VIMSAR at Burla are up in the arms against the decision of the Orissa High Court for rehabilitation of students of the Sardar Rajas Medical College, Kalahandi in the Burla MCH.

In a meeting held on Thursday night, the Junior Doctors’ Association (JDA) has also supported the stand of the MBBS students of the Burla MCH.

“Since the Orissa High Court has given the order for the rehabilitation of 55 students of Kalahandi medical college here, we don’t have any option to dishonor court, but we will move the

Supreme Court to protest the decision as VIMSAR has no adequate infrastructure to accommodate such huge numbers of students,” said students’ union president Jayshankar Mishra.

“We are disheartened to know the decision of the court and the State Government. And to get the final justice, knocking the door of the apex court is the only alternative before us now,” Mishra said.

“As pet the court order, out of total 109 students of Kaklahandi, 55 will be rehabilitated in Burla and rest 54 in MKCG, Brahmapur. But these students are never at par with the students of Burla or Brahmapur. Hence, we protest their entry here and decide to beg justice from the apex court of the country,” Mishra asserted.

Meanwhile, the Junior Doctors Association (JDA) alleged that the Medical Council of India (MCI) is playing a dubious role in the matter.

In Brahmapur, the MKCG students also continued their 15-day-old stir and boycotted classes, besides holing dharana in front of the college gate over the relocation issue. Despite court order for the rehabilitation of the students, the MKCG students were firm on their stand and stated that they would fight the case in the Supreme Court.

Several attempts of the college authority and the district administration to convince the students to stop their agitation have not yielded any result.
