Burglars loot 3 ATMs of Rs 30 lakh in Bhadrak

Unidentified burglars looted three Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of three different banks in Bhadrak and decamped with cash to the tune of Rs 30 lakh on Thursday night.

The Bhadrak police have formed special teams to trace and nab the culprits.

The miscreants looted ATMs of Axis Bank and ICICI Bank located at Randhia Bazaar and the SBI ATM at Kuansa under the Bhadrak police limits.

Sources said the money looted from the SBI ATM amounted to Rs 16,48,900 while Rs 7,11,900 was looted from the ICICI Bank ATM and Rs 6.06 lakh from Axis Bank ATM.

The miscreants used gas cutters to commit the robbery. They set the ICICI Bank ATM on fire before fleeing the spot.

Police suspected involvement of the same gang in all these cases as two robberies were identical.

Sources said there were no security guards in these ATMs. After looting the outlets, the burglars closed the shutters and fled from the spot.

The incident came to light on Friday morning when customers went to the ATMs to withdraw money.
