Builder's son looted of Rs 70l near Naveen Niwas

Finally, bike-borne criminals in the city on Saturday dared to loot Rs 70 lakh from a builder’s son near the Chief Minister’s residence, Naveen Niwas, which is in one of the high-security zones in the capital. In broad daylight, the criminals snatched away the money after stopping the victim’s car near the Palaspalli over-bridge.

According to reports, the incident took place about 10.30 am when Biswajit, son of Jagat Jiban Infrastructure’s owner Ugrasen Sahu, was on his way to the Allahabad Bank branch in the KIIT University area to deposit the sum of Rs 70 lakh.

The looters armed with sharp weapons came in a blue-coloured Pulsar bike and blocked Biswajit’s car from the front side at a little distance from the Naveen Niwas near the Palaspalli flyover and threatened to kill him and his driver Mohan Sahu.

They then took away the cash kept in a bag in the car along with mobile phone and fled away.

Builder Ugrasen Sahu, who stays at plot No-HIG-13 in the Pokhariput area, lodged a complaint with the Airfield police in the afternoon.

Twin City Police Commissioner Dr RP Sharma along with DCP Nitinjeet Singh and officials of special squad reached the Airfield police station and interrogated Biswajit and his driver to ascertain facts. The police asked them why they were going to the bank carrying such a huge amount of money without taking security persons along with them.

When the police officials didn’t get any satisfactory answer, Biswajit and his driver were detained for further interrogation, sources said. “Soon after the incident, we sealed some roads and started checking bikes and vehicles in a bid to nab the culprits,” said Sharma.
