Simax Builders Pvt ltd managing director Nirmal Kumar Behera was arrested by the Commissionerate Police here on Saturday in connection with land fraud. He was forwarded to court, the police said.
Police sources said Behera of the Balianta area on the city outskirts duped two of his customers Saroj Kumar Kar of Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district and Braja Balabh Bhanja of Dumduma here of around Rs 7 lakh by promising them to give land.
After two years, when the customers failed to get plots and money according to the promise made by the MD, Kar and Bhanja lodged a case against Behera at the Saheed Nagar police station here. On the basis of the FIRs of Kar and Bhanja, the police conducted a raid on Simax office and arrested Nirmal Behera. Kar, a Defence personnel in the rank of Wing Commander, invested Rs 2.62 lakh for 16 plots while Bhanja invested Rs 4.40 lakh for five plots.
