The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch police on Wednesday arrested a builder here for allegedly duping several persons of more than Rs 4 crore on the pretext of providing them flats.
The arrested Premananda Mohapatra is the chief of Golden View Infrastructure Private limited.
Acting on a tipoff about his presence near a mall in the city, Crime Branch officials reached the spot and arrested him, reports said.
Mohapatra had received over Rs 4 crore from various persons promising them to provide flats in the Tamando area on the outskirts of the city. However, he neither provided flats to them nor returned their money, following which the duped ones lodged a police complaint.
