Subarnapur district Collector Dasarathy Satpathy has directed concerned officers to expedite construction of 118 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) under the ICDS and complete them by March 2016.
The Collector issued this direction expressing tardy progress of the work at different places in the district. As per allegations, boys and girls are reading under the open sky as Anganwadi Centres have not been constructed.
There is also apprehension that if the Anganwadi Centres are not constructed in time, the fund allocated by the Centre under the ICDS would return. The Collector too warned the officers that stringent action would be taken in case of negligence.
